Greek Yogurt VS. Plain Yogurt

You may notice that Greek Yogurt is becoming more poplular at the market and wonder what is the difference against normal plain yogurt.  The differences aren't significant but here's what makes them diverse.
Greek yogurt contains less sugar, higher protein and contains less fat than plain yogurt.  Greek yogurt is a mix of cream and milk.  It is strained to remove most of the liquid(whey) which decreases your calcium intake.  Plain yogurt wins for calcium content.  On average, a 6 oz. container of Greek Yogurt cotains 150-200mg than plain yogurt which contains 300 mg.The consistency is thick like sour cream and tastes tart, creamy and rich.  Plain yogurt has a more watery texture since it contains water.  How about calories?  There isn't a distinctive difference in calories but to shave the number of calorie counts, buy plain Greek or plain yogurt.

Try your greek yogurt mixed with some honey, maple syrup or fresh fruit.  For more flavor and health benefits, add granola for fiber.  Such a healthy and tasty treat!
