Dragon Boat Racing

During a picnic at one of my local parks, I saw a crew of dragon boats that appeared to be practicing for a race. I was facinated by their teamwork and it seemed to be a fun workout. I wanted to try that!


I found a free dragon boating class and joined immediately. I was able to particiate in a free try-out for Dragon Boat Racing a few months ago! The weather was perfect, sunny with a slight breeze. The total experience was incredible but it wasn't easy. It's both a physical and mental challenge. It is an extensive upper body workout. You have to coordinate your timing and be totally synchonized with your fellow team members or else the whole boat will fail it's race. It's motivating and such a liberating experience!

The next morning I was sore on the left side of my body, on my buttocks, my forearm and in my abdomen.

I highly recommend this sport to those who want a challenging but fun work-out.
